Alberta Health covers the basic cost of vasectomy.
You can get your vasectomy at Lohlun Clinics at no cost to you.
We also offer optional uninsured services with our Premium Vasectomy Package
Premium Option – No-Needle, No-Scalpel Vasectomy
Alberta Health covers only the very basic costs of a vasectomy.
We strongly recommend choosing our Premium package for our no-scalpel, no-needle, single-puncture, minimally invasive, gentle touch vasectomy, which almost all of our patients choose for improved comfort and convenience for $250.
This is a one-time fee for a once-in-a-lifetime procedure.
The cost of other contraceptive methods, such as birth control pills or condoms etc. is significantly greater over time. You will only ever get a vasectomy once so you might as well have the best possible experience.
Premium Vasectomy Key Benefits
- No-Needle Anaesthesia to improve your comfort, reduce your anxiety, and reduce the risk of puncturing a blood vessel during the freezing of your scrotum.
- All supplies that you will need before and after your vasectomy provided for you, as your time is valuable. This saves you trips to the pharmacy.
- All your follow up visits will be done by telephone. So, rather than having to come back to the office multiple times and dealing with the time lost from work, driving, parking, gas, etc., we will do all post-procedure follow-up by telephone, saving you all the inconvenience. This includes giving your semen test results by telephone. All this will save you 6 hours of time.
Why do most clients choose Premium?
For something that is so life-changing, we want to provide the safest, most convenient and most comfortable way of getting the job done.
We are not satisfied with the standard of care and strive to go beyond that, especially for something as important as getting a vasectomy.
That is why we provide a Premium Package to address the biggest worries and greatest inconveniences our patients have while providing the highest quality care available.
No Needle in the Scrotum
First of all, men do not like needles or sharp objects of any sort down there! With Premium, we eliminate the need for a needle for freezing the scrotum by using a specialized spray applicator. This device uses air pressure to spray a fine stream of anesthetic (0.1 cc/injection) through the skin, freezing both the skin and vas deferens at the same time.
With this method, the benefit is that no sharp object physically enters the scrotum, so there is less risk of puncturing a blood vessel, it reduces patient anxiety which helps relax the scrotum so there is less uncomfortable tugging and pulling during the procedure, patients report less pain during freezing, and it also reduces the procedure length since less time is spent controlling bleeding or managing local hematoma from the needle.
Post Surgical Supplies Included
Secondly, all the supplies that you need to purchase after your surgery are pre-bought, pre-packed and given to you the day of your surgery.
This saves you the hassle of running around to different stores to buy them at retail price after your surgery, which you will otherwise need to do.
You come in, have your procedure, then head straight home to relax and ice your scrotum.
Follow-Ups by Phone
Thirdly, all your in-office follow up visits will be eliminated and done by telephone instead. We all live busy lives and it is challenging to arrange and keep appointments for extra clinic visits.
Rather than coming back to the office multiple times and having to deal with the time lost from work, driving, parking, gas, etc., our staff will conduct your follow ups as well as discuss your semen test results down the road by telephone instead.
Choice of Clips or Sutures
Dr Lohlun can use mini titanium clips or tiny stitches in occluding the vas deferens. The techniques are equally effective, and you can choose either one. Some men prefer sutures over clips. This option is another benefit of the Premium Package.
The Premium Vasectomy Package is a fully optional non-insured service that you can choose to purchase in addition to the insured basic vasectomy. The premium service will improve your experience, but the medical services are always top notch.
Just $250 for a Premium Service Vasectomy – It’s worth it.
The Premium fee enables us to provide this exceptional level of service and cover our costs, as AB Health only remunerates us for in-office visits and standard anaesthesia.
Most of our patients say “I am going to do this once in my life, I want to have the simplest, most convenient and most comfortable option available.” Our patients indicate to us that when they consider the fact that they are already saving from never needing to buy any form of contraception ever again the Premium package “just makes sense” as it is a one-time fee for a once-in-a-lifetime procedure.
Should you choose not to purchase the Premium Service option, you will need to come back to the office in person for the follow up visits, test results, etc. We will provide you with a list of the supplies you will need to purchase on your own and you will get the standard needle freezing of the scrotum.
